SAH01 Malay Gifts to the World
BACKGROUND
This 30-hour course introduces a basic repertoire of spoken Bahasa Melayu and some central aspects of Malay culture and tradition. The emphasis of the program is on communication practice in a range of situational contexts that have immediate concern to them, for instance talking about family, relating one’s personal life and experiences in valuing Malay culture, asking for and giving directions, purchasing goods and ordering meals. Authentic materials are used to enhance understanding. First-hand discovery of the Malay culture with a host family as well as fieldtrips to selected places enable the participants to appreciate the traditional and modern culture of Malay in Malaysia.
LEARNING OUTCOME
At the end of the program, participants will be able to
- Communicate using simple Malay for rudimentary conversation, e.g. facts about themselves and their daily routines
- Ask for and give simple directions to get around
- Negotiate simple transactions, e.g. in the market, paying for taxi fare

Student application renewal
To all students, please make sure all application of student pass/social pass renewal must be submitted to the CENTRE FOR INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS within three (3) months before the expiry date of the current pass.Any application submitted less than two (2) months, will be charged a penalty of RM500.00 by the CENTRE FOR INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS.

Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) is now branded as Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA).
His Majesty Yang Maha Mulia Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta’in Billah consented to the use of the UMPSA logo and name according to the Federal Government gazette effective 14 April 2023.
The university started as the University College of Engineering and Technology Malaysia (KUKTEM), a technical university established on 16 February 2002.
After five years of operation, the Government of Malaysia announced the change of the name KUKTEM to Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) effective 1 February 2007.
