EST09 - Vibration Signature Analysis

Background 

In general, this 5-days course introduces a comprehensive vibration analysis in Condition Based Maintenance (CBM). The course, designed with hands-on activities for data measurement and analysis, gives a detailed understanding of the principle and procedure. This program provides a deep insight into the various elements involved in the different monitoring techniques like Vibration Amplitude, Vibration Frequency and Vibration Phase measurement, Severity Charts and so on.

  Learning outcomes 

At the end of the program, participants will be able to

  1. Diagnose basic faults regarding vibration analysis
  2. Suggest solutions to the faulty problems
  3. Have skills to perform vibration based maintenance

EST06 - Getting in Deep: Discover Underwater World as a Commercial Diver

Background 

Students may occasionally find themselves dreaming of a more exciting career. And, if you’re a recreational diver, it is not uncommon to wonder about commercial diving in those moments. After all, could it really be that different? Why not get paid for your hobby? Commercial diving, particularly, is very different from recreational diving. But what is it exactly? What do commercial divers do? And what are the prerequisites? Thus, throughout this 5-days course, students will taste the scale and breadth of tasks that commercial divers undertake. Besides, students will also be experiencing diving in a pool/island with full SCUBA diving equipment

  2. Distinguish different type of equipment used for underwater breathing/working environmen

EST05 - Mobile Application Development

 Background 

This course is designed to transform the knowledge of development model into mobile application. It is intended for students who want to learn mobile application development. This course will emphasize hands-on designing mobile application contents, mobile development process and rapid prototyping for mobile. Participants are guided to do their development step-by-step using Android Studio. This program is design to make learning fun and entertaining. All session and activities will be conducted in English.

By participating in this course, students will be able to:

  • Analyse the limitations and challenges in mobile applications.
  • Design a mobile application prototype using appropriate techniques and tools.
  • Develop rapid mobile application using selected software development environment.

EST07 - When Safety First, You Last: Learning Ergonomics at the Workplace

Background 

This Ergonomics course is concerned with the achievement of optimal relationships between humans and their work environment. Topics include the capabilities and limitations of humans and machines, simulation of design and training, principles of symbolic and pictorial displays, responses to environmental stress, injuries from poorly designed workplaces, and repetitive motion with emphasis on prevention.

  Learning outcomes 

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Describe ergonomic risk factors and ergonomic risk factor modifiers, and assess the impact they have on the development of cumulative trauma disorders.
  2. Conduct an ergonomic assessment, and recommend the implementation of successful interventions.
  3. Differentiate between engineering and management interventions, and recommend such interventions to reduce the presence and magnitude of ergonomic risk factors.
  4. Apply the NIOSH Lifting Equation to a manual materials handling lift, and interpret the results.
  5. Recognize the presence and types of psychosocial ergonomic risk factors, and recommend actions  that can be taken to reduce their negative impact on employee safety and work efficiency.
  6. Evaluate and articulate the importance of optimizing the interface between employees and  equipment/machinery, and how to optimize the interface.
  7. Evaluate and articulate the value in providing clear written communications, and how to apply various methods to maximize the accurate transfer of information.
  8. Recognize the importance of written ergonomic and medical management programs, and how to successfully develop and implement such programs.
